Tails:
I grew up near Detroit, both thriving and surviving 12 years of Catholic School. Raised in a family of engineers, I defied expectations and studied anthropological archaeology in university. Go Blue! Growing up, I had a passion for culture, history, geography, and the natural world. My life and work took me to many interesting places – Ann Arbor, St. Louis, Taos, Chambana, Mt. Pleasant, and Astana. After working in higher education for 10 years in Kazakhstan, I returned to the USA in 2021 and settled at DR.
I am fascinated by minimalism, no-buy/low buy, regenerative agriculture, and sustainability. I am an introvert, who loves researching and reading fiction. I believe that a lot of systems tend toward equilibrium, and so I look for the middle path, which can at times present as being a bit lazy. I don’t seek bliss, rather I hope to be content and look for ways to personally reduce harm in the world. I keep just busy enough. A typical day at DR for me includes doing committee work related to keeping the community running, household/co-op tasks, enjoying nature, and just chilling.
I love winter, snow, cold weather, being in the shade, strong breezes, swimming, singing, dancing, playing cards, strategy games, biking, the extremes of lolling in a sauna and then plunging into icy water, cooking for my co-op and visitors, and animals – most especially dogs!
