Time Frame: April 1 until October 1
Type of Work: Office work – mainly Researching Sustainable and Non-Toxic materials in accordance with Living Building Challenge’s Material Petal Certification. Some additional admin work is available to those who have interest and the appropriate skill sets.

The New Community Building at Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage will set a new standard for ecological building. This 8700-square-foot passive-solar strawbale building will be certified LEED Platinum as well as meet the strict standards of the Living Building Challenge. This exciting project is essential in Dancing Rabbit achieving its vision of a 500-person pedestrian-scale village dedicated to sustainable living.

Set to begin construction this Summer, this project can use help immediately and will continue to need research and admin support through the Fall.

Internship work will focus on materials research to ensure and document that every material in the building meets Living Building Challenge standards.

Some additional variety of work in may be available for those with project management, engineering and design experience. Some additional variety of work may also be available to those with broad research, photography, website, and writing skills, in order to promote this project on our website.

You will work in a private home-office with the Project Manager at the Timberframe and/or in the Dancing Rabbit office, located in the DR Common House.

Skills needed:
Familiarity with building construction materials and an understanding of materials production and/or a keen ability to assimilate lots of information quickly.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to use excel and word efficiently is imperative for this work.

You will need the,ability to work under minimal supervision once trained and communicate and coordinate work with other staff.

Your possession of a strong work ethic, a dedication to sustainability, a positive personal outlook/energy, and a strong sense of commitment and perseverance will be essential for success in this position.

Personal computer.
Some valuable software to have on hand include dropbox, excel, word, and a PDF viewer.
