If you want to take the Permaculture Design Course (PDC) at Dancing Rabbit, this year, now is your last chance. Registration closes at midnight this Saturday, and there are only two spots left!
Wondering what you might expect? Here’s what long-time Dancing Rabbit member Bear had to say about his experience taking last year’s course:
“Ever since I began paying attention, I have been deeply concerned about the state of the Earth and the direction we seem to be heading as a civilization. That was in part what led me to Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage in 2005. Over the last decade living here, I have learned a whole lot about building homes, and not enough about the land, trees, and plants around them. The Permaculture Design Course was a unique opportunity to focus on that big picture—literally in my backyard.
Bill Wilson [of Midwest Permaculture] is a dynamic, doggedly optimistic and inspirational teacher. His passion for permaculture is alive and highly contagious. Day after day we were introduced to the many concepts of permaculture, while celebrating examples of people and projects from around the world that are creating the alternatives to our doomed mainstream disposable consumer culture. The projects we explored all felt accessible and DIY-friendly, and after our various design exercises and group discussions, I felt fully prepared to start making more difference in the world.
The design course was a very intensive experience and my student group bonded deeply as if we had survived some sort of disaster together—which, in a way, maybe we have. The conversations shared during frequent breaks and meals created a fellowship and revealed a depth of character rarely experienced. From the beginning it was clear that in this course the laughter will come as easily as the hugs and the tears.
I believe that a large part of what made the course so successful was the location of Dancing Rabbit. Where else can one see so many examples of natural building, gardening, orcharding, and community living, all in one place?
During our graduation circle, a fellow student described the PDC experience this way: It is as if we crawled here like caterpillars and in our time together we have cocooned, struggled and metamorphosed. Now the time has come for us to fly home pollinating permaculture everywhere we go.”
Are you ready to “cocoon, metamorphose, and fly home” to make a difference in the world? Want to bond, share laughter, hugs, and tears with Rabbits and others who care about the planet?
