“Hands On” Intro to Natural Building workshop, with instructor and DR Member Hassan Hall, just after the Saturday DR Village Tour, from 3:30 – 5:00 pm. This is the second in DR’s new monthly Sustainable Living Educational Series. The workshop will include planning for different phases of construction; a look at some of the building techniques used at Dancing Rabbit: straw bale, light-clay straw, cob, earthbags, earthen plasters; plus a hands-on experience with one of these techniques. Cost is $15 per person.

April 26, 2014 — Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage, Rutledge, MO
“Start Your Own Seeds” mini-workshop, with farmer and DR Member Dan Durica, just after the Saturday DR Village tour at 3:30 pm. This 45-minute workshop is the first in a new monthly Sustainable Living Educational Series at Dancing Rabbit. Dan will demonstrate how to start seeds using soil blocks, how to use various kinds of lighting for germinating seeds, and how to create a mini-greenhouse environment for young plants using a cold frame. Cost to attend the workshop is $8. Any additional donations will be gratefully accepted to support our expanding efforts to provide sustainability education to the public.

Rabbits will be participating in the St. Louis Earth Day Festival, taking place on the Muny grounds of Forest Park from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, and will be happening rain or shine. DR will be having an educational booth– come get your hands on some natural building materials!

Rabbits will also be at the 2014 Columbia Area Earth Day Festival. We’ll be part of Eco Avenue, the block of Elm St. between 7th and 8th, where booths of organizations working to promote a sustainable future are located. Come chat with long-time DR members Ted and Sara!
