The Pond

Here you see our swimming pond. I don't know how we'd survive the hot summer days without it. The pond is also home to fish, frogs, dragonflies, and occasionally a great blue heron (we actually have five ponds at DR; the others are primarily for wildlife). On your right you'll see a patch of wild blackberries that provides us with great summer desserts and jam in the winter. You'll also notice a number of fruit trees and berry bushes planted along our paths. In five years we've planted over 40 trees and we've already seen small yields of peaches and pears.
Near the pond we have this lovely set of solar showers for rinsing off after a dip or for a shower on a warm summer evening.
Let's head up the path to the Milkweeds' cottage.
