The Outdoor Kitchen (The OK)

One of the few buildings on our land when we purchased it, the outdoor kitchen's previous use was a pig barn. In 1998 we spent many hours cleaning it and setting it up as the community's summer kitchen. The food is prepared on a Home Comfort wood stove with waste wood from a local furniture maker. We also use an alternative wood stove called a 'rocket stove,' which is homemade from cob and brick, and burns wood more efficiently. Currently, ASSROK co-op leases the OK for kitchen use during the summer. (ASSROK stands for All-Star Summertime Rugged Outdoor Kitchen co-op)

Cooking and eating in an open air kitchen is a great experience, especially when nature graces us with a beautiful sunset.
