Your Qualifications and Experience:

• Understand child development and interpersonal dynamics between children aged 5-8

You will be a good fit for this internship.

Here's what is expected of you:

• 20 hours per week working with the children as a teacher/mentor/camp couselor
• A weekly feedback forum with the parents.
• Coordination and development of activities and events for the afternoon program. This will be done with parent assistance as necessary.

This work-exchange opportunity spans 2.5 months, beginning May 25th and continues until August 15th 2010.

Summary of What You'll Get:

• Food: You'll get 3 delicious organic vegan/vegetarian meals per day. All produce is local, organic, and in-season.

• Accommodations: Tenting space provided and shared facilities available for use. Our indoor facility, the Common House is complete with kitchen, showers, composting toilets, phone, internet, library, and social space. The timber frame addition is also available for limited use.

• Fees: Payment of all Dancing Rabbit associated fees.

• Transportation: If you come to Dancing Rabbit by train or bus, and  then you'll be picked up at the nearest station at no cost to you. Other travel to Dancing Rabbit and during your stay is at your expense.

• Education and skills: You will gain both hands-on experience and a working knowledge of working with primary school age children. You will also learn how to live a sustainable lifestyle while living and working cooperatively with others. You will undoubtedly develop a variety of childlike, artistic, and leadership qualities.

Summary of Your Responsibilities and Qualifications:

• Your work load: 20 hours per week with the children, between 2 and 5 hours per week communicating with parents and developing the summer program, and 3 cookshifts per week, (one breakfast, lunch, and dinner, though not all on the same day), as well as one additional kitchen duty per week.

• Your experience and attitude: enthusiasm, strong work ethic, responsibility, attention to details, desire to learn, and a good spirit.

• Additional responsibilities to the community. As a temporary resident of the community, you will partake in community responsibilities such as rotational cleaning and chore rotations.
