Want To Help Me Re-install Eco Insulation?
Are you interested in learning about ecological insulation?
Do you want to get some actual hands-on experience working with wood siding?
Would you like to experience community life in an off-the-grid, sustainable ecovillage?
If you answer yes to these questions, then you should be interested in this work exchange opporutnity.
I am looking to host work exchangers during July-August 2010 to help
with the reinstalling insulation in my small one room cabin

The House You'll Be Working On:
The house is a 225 square foot one room cabin, on a peer foundation with blown cellulose insullation.
The original insulation is dry blown cellulose, and as far as I can tell it has settled through out the walls. Also, the original owners who built the building didn't include any house wrap on the building, before installing the siding.
You'll be helping me and another work exchanger to:
- remove the existing siding,
- install house wrap
- reinsulate with either wet blown cellulose, or foam insulation, and then
- reinstall the siding.
At least that's my current plan for how to fix the insulation, but building plans can certainly change!
If for some reason we get stuck waiting on something in the building process, I may have you help out with other random projects I, or other people in my community, have going on.
These other projects could include:
- cutting and stacking firewood
- building compost bins
- working on a green house
- helping with construction or gardening going on in the community

Your Living Situation At Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage:
Other than gaining natural building experience, you will have the opportunity to experience community life here at Dancing Rabbit.
You'll be able to partake in community events and activities, eat seasonal and organic meals (largely vegetarian or vegan whole foods) in a food co-op with Dancing Rabbit members, and enjoy a beautiful summer in rural Missouri.
As a temporary resident of the community, you will also be expected to partake in community responsibilities, such as weekly cook shifts and cleaning. |
|
Your Building Qualifications and Experience:
Prospective work exchangers should have some previous experience in one of the following areas:
- blown cellulose or foam insulation
If you are responsible, have a strong work ethic, and are capable of regularly doing very physical work, you will be fit for this role. As a work exchanger, your cost of living here at Dancing Rabbit will be covered in exchange for 25-35 hours of labor per week. Non-building labor responsibilities will include cook shifts as part of a food co-op, and occasional cleaning shifts.
