Earthbag Building

Get hands-on experience building an earthbag dome at Dancing Rabbit ecovillage. This small earth sheltered house will have a living roof, earthen floor and cob walls.

Construction will include:

• Mixing fill material, filling and placing earthbags.
  
  
• Making cob, plastering the walls, sculpting reliefs and mosaics.
  
  
• Creating an earthen floor.
  
  
• Finishing the loft, raised bed, and shelves.
  
  
• Building a living roof.
  
  
• Creative thinking!

What is Expected of You

A typical work week of around 30 hours will include plenty of physical labor, moving heavy objects and brainstorming. You should have either experience in building or a strong willingness to learn. I require a committment of at least one month unless you have previous experience in green building construction.

As part of living at Dancing Rabbit, you will be expected to participate in a clean rotation and cook shift.

What is Provided

All your basic needs at Dancing Rabbit will be provided. Including:

What You Will Need

You will need to bring yourself, that means transportation to and from rural Missouri. I can help in arranging transportation from the nearest train/plane/bus station. Bring a good pair of work gloves, a tent, work boots, and whatever you will need for a Missouri summer. You should also have an eagerness to live in a community setting with shared facilities.
