JuanMe!
How to summarize a story that's been over 20 years in the making? More importantly, how to do it justice? Simple. You don't try.

My name is Juan. I was born in Bahia Blanca, in the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. I am an only child. Earlier than I can remember, my parents came to the US to study, bringing me along for comic relief. I provided them with many an amusing anecdote to share with friends, especially once I started talking. To be fair, they've provided me with a few themselves.

Expiring visas, job opportunities, and an overall drive to have a better life drove my family to move from town to city and country to country throughout my childhood; this ensured that I learn very well how to start from scratch socially. I have literally forgotten more friends than many people I know have made.

High school was the first time I made friends that I kept longer than a couple of years, yet I lost most of them again when I went to college. With so much transience, only a few things remained the same -- my family's support and love, my willingness to let things go for a chance at something better, and my annoying habit of reading and writing that borders on addiction.

As I grew to adulthood, I began to notice the aspects of myself that I truly liked, and those parts of me that I wanted to change. But it wasn't until I met my now-partner Amy in New Jersey that I truly realized how many options I had. Just knowing that I didn't have to work a normal job, eat packaged food, or ever drive a car all came as a shock. Thanks to her, I came in contact with Skyhouse and Dancing Rabbit, and saw where I wanted to be.

So I quit my job, sold my car and moved here, starting from scratch one more time. Once again for the hope of something better, but for once, entirely by my own choice. It is a choice I do not regret, and I feel quite strongly that I can never really go back to a life without community.

Since moving here, I've noticed a dramatic difference in myself. I breathe easier, sleep better, and have an overall sense of peace that I was lacking in my standard life. As a Skyhouse member, I've found a second family, and as a Dancing Rabbit member, I've found a home.
