Community Mama

by Halle Bennett

Jack has his first tooth! Look out world of solid foods. I have been patiently trying to find ways to alleviate his pain: teething toys, biscuits, homeopathic remedies, even frozen watermelon (which is quite tasty!). Jack really hasn't taken to any of these, so we have been nursing a lot, cuddling, and loving him so he knows we are here for him. Aaron and I have considered just yanking 'em out as they come, after all, they're just going to fall out in a few more years.

Jack and I took another big step in our new relationship. He went a whole nine hours without me except for a few short nursing breaks. Jack not only survived, but he spent most of the time with Cecil (not his dad)! This reaffirms my belief that living with others who have a strong place in child care really helps kids become more independent. I'm proud of both Jack and Cecil for taking this giant leap together. Time is precious to the Community Mama, so that's all for now!
