Planning and Village Design
This winter we look at the twin
issues of planning and village design.
Almost everything we do here can be
traced to these underpinnings, but here
we look at some of the base-level
considerations of life at Dancing Rabbit
and our existence in the context of the
wider world. With Milkweed Mercantile
gearing up for its debut as Dancing
Rabbit's first storefront, the arrival of
numerous new residents expected in
Spring, and other new projects
sprouting like mushrooms, the time is
ripe to consider where we've come from
and where we're headed. Founding
member Cecil provides a before-andafter
snapshot of DR nearing its 10th
Land Day, as well as some puzzling
mental exercise to keep you warm; the
creatures of our land teach wildman
Thomas a thing or two about the perils
of planning; Juan tells us of his origins;
Ted considers our state of preparedness
for a changing world; and Rachel offers
a snapshot of our evolving relationship
with our land. Now we invite you to curl
up with a blanket and a cup of tea and
read on.
