Another green season

Planting trees
Nicole planting trees this spring

Jeepers peepers and wooing woodcocks--it's springtime again! As we welcome all our seasonal friends, including visitors of the hominid variety, we also prepare for a busy season of growing and building. Growing lettuce in our gardens and growing stronger in our ideals. Building ecologically sound structures and building communication skills. Ah, life at the ecovillage continues.

In the Nature Corner, Rachel gives a representative sampling of data gathered as a biology student, traveler, and DR's in-house mammologist. Ted enumerates the joys of greenhouse gardening and gets the inside scoop on Ironweed's favorite vegetables.

That inventive Thomas had so much fun fixing our tandem bike earlier this month that he and Nicole decided to extend the experience by writing in tandem. Consequently, their collective creative fencing and food forest vision awaits your perusal.

At one time or another, many of our friends and family members have wondered: How is DR like a third-world country? Read Tony's provocative "A Third-World Lifestyle?" to learn his views on the subject.

And, read Stef's "A Season of Growth..." to get a glimpse of how it feels to leave community. Wish her well, as we do, in her travels abroad.

All seasons hold the potential for so much change--we hope to truly appreciate the positive, and to make the best of the challenging. And, as always, we hope you enjoy your peek into our lives. Remember, as you too venture out into the garden once more, please wear a sunhat and drink plenty of water.

Ask a Rabbit

A recent email from Errol encouraged us to provide a venue for folks to ask direct questions and get specific answers. (See next issue—really!— for responses to his questions.)

Please direct all questions by email to askarabbit (at) dancingrabbit.org; or by mail to 1 Dancing Rabbit Lane, Rutledge, MO 63563, Attn: March Hare Editor.
