What are some businesses that people at Dancing Rabbit could
start up in order to maintain a steady income? One of the things that
can be very challenging at Dancing Rabbit is the lack of available income
opportunities.
Folks here are always on the look-out for good business ideas to try
to alleviate this situation. The main criteria that a good business at Dancing
Rabbit would need to meet are:
- Product or service that can be sold
to people outside of Dancing
Rabbit. (There's no shortage of work to be done within the community;
the problem comes in needing
to meet our US dollar expenses to the outside world.)
- Does not require driving around all over the place. (Traveling insurance
sales would not be a good business.)
- Can be done in an ecologically friendly manner. (Umm....coal mining is
right out.)
- Would not need to be a community-wide business such as hammock production
at Twin Oaks. Very few people here are interested in starting up a "Dancing
Rabbit" business, but many people are interested in starting up their
own small business either alone or with a few other people at DR. Ideally such
a
business would be easily expandable, to allow other DR residents and members
to plug in quickly.
If you have ideas for a workable business that folks here
could start up to keep a steady income, please send
them to us (attention:
