As the days grow shorter and the nights become colder, the Sandhillians and Dancing Rabbits begin to settle into a comfortable coziness with one another that bodes well for a long and fruitful relationship. The Rabbits bring an energy and enthusiasm to Sandhill that is beautiful to behold. We admire their courage and perseverance as well as their dedication to their vision and to one another. They are a loving and hard-working group of people.
The end of this year's sorghum season is near, and we will all breathe a sigh of relief and give thanks for a bountiful harvest. There were many high times during the season with large groups of communards working together stripping, cutting and loading cane in the fields and playing together at games, dances and sweats. At the peak, our numbers soared to 38 ‹ quite a stretch for a community that normally numbers six adults and three children. While we experienced some overwhelming moments, we rose to the occasion and enjoyed the magic inherent in human diversity.
We are optimistic about the partnership between Sandhill Farm and Dancing Rabbit. It is a long-held dream of ours that another group would settle either within our community or nearby. We look forward to the challenges and joys that will manifest as a result of our coming together and joining forces. In the meantime, we continue to learn about each individual's spirit (both the light and dark sides). With this depth of knowing, our love for one another blossoms and grows. We bid you a peaceful winter season!
