A rich harvest
It's been a full and busy time here at the Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage. We have had some great times in the past few months. In addition to all of our ongoing work, we have been participating in some great fun-time activities! A fiddle-playing intern and the calling energy of Rebecca over at Sandhillbrough contradancing into our lives. And, late night dance parties have become a semi-regular occurrence as well.
We had more musical fun and a lovely time socializing with our neighbors at the annul Rutledge Fall Festival. Some of us played music on the stage, some of us helped sell food and all of us had a good time. Sandhill even provided delicious marinated tempeh for the food booth, making the many vegans and vegetarians among our crowd very happy.
As if that weren't enough, we just held our 3rd annual Land Day party, celebrating the anniversary of when we bought our land. This year's bash was bigger than ever, including an open house for over 200 local folks interested in seeing what we are up to. Afterwards we had a great party with our friends and gave thanks for the blessing of this little corner of the world that we belong to.
An article appeared about Dancing Rabbit in the recent issue of Orion Afield magazine and we gave our website an overhaul. If you'd like to help more of the world find out about us, see this issue's Help Us column.
The Milkweed's cottage is quickly nearing winter-ready completion, making it our largest livable home to date! It's an addition to the village that we are all proud of. We also have our largest supply yet of yummy canned goods set aside for the winter. and are still harvesting beautiful bounty from the gardens.
This past month brought us confirmation of the beginning success of our prairie plots. This thrilling news is just another confirmation that we're on the right track!
