Preparations begin

So much has happened here since the fall newsletter was written. Land use planning has been at the top of the list. After so many years of planning in a vacuum it has been very gratifying to look at a real piece of the Earth and say, "Yes, let's put the houses here and the orchard there".

We have had many visitors, some of which are seriously considering moving to our fledgling town. We continue to learn how to show our work to visitors and explain our vision of the future being created here. It has been reaffirming to me (Aaron) that so many wonderful people are interested in the project and support our goals.

Daily life here has been full of planning the many projects coming this spring. An outdoor kitchen, tree and prairie planting, house building, gardening, and producing the paperwork necessary for the village to run smoothly and accept new residents are a few of the projects we are preparing for.

We have been living across the road from the Dancing Rabbit Land Trust for over a year now. We have had the opportunity to witness the seasons complete their cycle. It has been beautiful. The white of winter turned to the green of spring. Summer's black thunderheads poured rain and lightning. Fall showed its colors and now white winter has returned.

We have been cutting firewood as well. Last winter we swore we would get ahead of the job and get this year's wood cut before it turned cold, but...

The sunsets have been as beautiful as ever. I've really enjoyed hiking the property. At this point I have probably spent over a hundred hours out on it for one reason or another and continue to find little places I have never seen before. I look forward to living on it and with it. And I look forward to sharing it with the people of Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage.
