Laura here. Though it has been a very quiet week, not
one of us has "succeeded at doing nothing for a whole
day," which Tamar jokingly stated as among her life
goals.
Construction continues to push forward despite the
cold. Andrew has been helping Dan tweak his boiler
set-up and chainsaw firewood down to usable pieces,
while Bob began insulating his modified tent
structure. He's using over forty yards of quilt
batting-- we wonder what the ladies at Zimmerman's
thought when he asked for that giant roll!
Susan and Erik brought back a whole truckload of wood
from a house being knocked down in Memphis. They were
grateful and excited to find two-by-fours-- a feeling
we can all understand, since we have a community
agreement to build with reused lumber.
It hasn't been all work and no play, of course. Chad,
Alyson, and Thomas had a fine time skating and sliding
on the pond the other day. I heard that even Isis
(Sara's dog) got her chance at a slide, while playing
with a tug-o-war stick.
Meanwhile, Jeffrey and Tamar paid a visit to Tom Carns
to see his wonderful earth-bermed house. Their
opinion: "It was supercool. There was wildlife right
outside the door."
Jeffrey's father, Andy, was also here for a short
visit before sweeping Tamar and Jeffrey off with him.
It's always encouraging to see Andy. His enthusiasm
and support for both his son and our village is
downright warming.
Speaking of warm . . . Nicole departed to spend time
with family in Hawaii, where her brother currently
lives. Jacque left the same day, though she headed to
chilly New York. We're also missing Dan, but very
happy that he is getting a much-deserved break.
Lest you think everyone runs off when the temperature
drops below freezing-- Cecil arrived home Sunday. We
are heart-glad to have him back after his long
absence, and looking forward to spending a peaceful
holiday with him.
