Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage
by Rachel Katz

This is Rachel, shaking the cobwebs out of my head. There's been a cold going around and it hit me yesterday. I'm just thankful it's not that flu everyone has been talking about.

The common house has continued to progress at a fast clip. They have been finishing up the drywall and starting the painting. Sara and Ted's house have had a swarm of workers every day, with Chris, Stefanie, Arjen and little Bob covering different areas of the little house.

Every winter we come together to put some concentrated time into planning and making decisions. This year our retreat is happening in two parts. The first part is happening this week and we've been making preparations to spend three days together sharing our ideas and working towards our goals.

Kit was an intern here a few years back and made us a gorgeous quilt. She is finishing up her BFA at Truman and had her art show this week. Several folks went to the opening night to see her art and help her celebrate. I think she must have needed a vacation because then she came to spend the weekend with us here. Several folks also went to Kirksville to attend the Lyceum series. It was the holiday show, performed by Quartetto Gelato, a quirky quartet with cello, violin, oboe and accordion.

It was quiet this last weekend because many folks are still with their families from Thanksgiving. On top of that, Tamar and Jeffrey went to Chicago for Tamar's birthday. And Kurt and Alline went to Kansas City. Kurt is from Kansas City and they went for his aunt and Uncle's 50th wedding anniversary.

I've learned that I can take movies out of the Truman library. Little Bob is a movie connoisseur and with his advice I bring home whole film festivals for us to watch. Then someone makes the chocolate chip cookies and we have a grand time watching and discussing the films.
