Wow! The weather has been beautiful. And the colors of the leaves are just gorgeous. I was admiring them when we were having cheerleading training. Our own Jacque Funk, former award-winning cheerleader at West Ran high school, taught us the moves and cheers modified to reflect life at Dancing Rabbit. It was fun to jump around outside in our skirts and ponytails shouting about eating organic food. And since I'm so light, I was often asked to be the "flier", the person who gets tossed around during stunts. Luckily, there were no permanent injuries.

Maggie organized an Oktoberfest party on Friday. Everyone contributed different traditional German foods (or a modified version of them) and we ate dinner to German music and toasts. Speaking of toasts, Oktoberfest could not be complete without a keg. Was this the first keg party at Dancing Rabbit? Dancing to not-necessarily-German music continued into the night.

And the fun never ends. We're glad to see the community theater in Memphis showing movies again and a whole bunch of people went up to see Seabiscuit. We really appreciate the volunteer work that goes in to providing the movies and movie-watching snacks, all at a very affordable price.

Sara and Ted had a very busy week. Their friend Chris came for a few days to help them put up the beams for their house. And it's looking great! Then Ted's mother Anne and brother Warner came for the long weekend. We're enjoying their company and they are enjoying seeing Ted "in his natural environment," as Warner said.

Sandhill had all that cane to process into sorghum and I saw a steady stream of Rabbits head over to mill the cane, stoke the fire and fill bottles. Sandhill seems to have survived a hectic sorghum season intact.

We had a diverse and enthusiastic Saturday tour group. There was a lovely couple from Novelty, two fellows who drove up from Saint Louis just to see us and a guy from Texas who drove up from his visit in the Ozarks. It makes us feel special that people come from so far to see what we are doing.

The Holtons stopped by with some boxes of black walnuts. Thanks! We're still looking for a good method to open them that is better than a hammer.

We also have tours the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month at 1pm until it gets too cold. Please call before coming by, 883-5511.
