Tony here letting you know all the Rabbit News. First off, Dancing
Rabbit was on the evening News in St. Louis. Fox News came up and
interviewed a bunch of rabbits and on November 14th aired a short
segment on us. You can
see
it online. We
were happy to get the coverage and thought they did a great job with it.
Also in video, Cynder treated us all to another pair of slide shows of
her photography this week. She had some great shots from Halloween as
well as some beautiful fall landscapes. Her show was followed by a treat
for adults and kids - a selection of School House Rock videos. We adults
sang along as the kids learned their multiplication tables and a little
bit about American history and grammar.
We held a membership forum for Liat this week. Liat grew up in Florida
and joined us this summer as a resident. She first got interested in
community after learning about Kibbutzim and is thrilled to have found a
community home in the States. Let's hope her first Missouri winter isn't
too harsh.
Alyssa celebrated her birthday on the 12th but her two month old Zane
didn't really want a big party so it was pretty low key. I did see
plenty of people wishing her Happy Birthday and signs and presents so
the day did not go unnoticed.
Dancing Rabbit, Inc., our 501c3 non-profit had a big envelope stuffing
party to send out our annual update and appeal. We had dozens of folks
collating, stuffing, sealing, and labelling letters including all the
kids. With so many, it all went so quick we were done in no time.
Hopefully those labels were put on straight enough.
Alline is showing an encore presentation of The Forsyte Saga over at
Milkweed Cinema (aka Alline and Kurt's TV). I'm not sure what its all
about but whenever it's mentioned everyone starts speaking in British
accents and gasping about the shocking antics of those Brits.
Speaking of Brits, Toby is trying his best to give us a taste of British
comedy beyond the basics (eg Monty Python). He showed a episode each of
the British and American versions of the TV show The Office. I for one
could hardly understand the British blokes and found the American
version offensive enough I wish I couldn't understand it too. Oh well, I
must not have the right sense of humor for it I suppose.
You might think that all we do in winter is watch videos. But folks are
still out on the construction site at the Milkweed Mercantile and Dan
took advantage of the warm weather to lay a few more blocks on his
foundation. Skyhouse was out cleaning its chimneys which meant Amy got
her first chance to be up on the Skyhouse roof. We have also already
started planning for projects for next year. New folks are discussing
building plans. Committees are getting proposals together. And new
committees are being formed to organize our visitor program for 2008 and
our annual retreat.
Hope you all have/had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
