Alyssa here giving the weekly update from Dancing Rabbit. Even with cold temperatures and snowy weather, most of us have found ourselves quite busy over this past week. The reason for the increase in activity was due to our annual retreat. Sunday marked the final day of retreat, and over the past 10 days we discussed topics ranging from the budget to fees for our vehicle cooperative to even the possibility of a new pond. Some topics have yet to reach a final decision and I imagine will fuel the agendas of many meetings to come. Overall the retreat was a wonderful time for all of us to come together!
There were fewer of us present for Tuesday night's community potluck dinner due to the new snow. Sandhill called it a "snow day" and stayed home. Nonetheless, we at Dancing Rabbit enjoyed sharing the meal together. Many of us lingered after dinner and even got a game of scrabble going.
In the middle of retreat, we celebrated Validation Day. Some of you may know this day as Valentine's Day, but we celebrate a little bit differently here. Weeks ago, a number of residents created hand-made cards for each person living here. The cards were created so that we could write messages of validation or appreciation for one another. On Wednesday morning, we gathered together to receive and read our personal cards. What a gift! It was wonderful to remember the various positive ways that each of us contributes to life at Dancing Rabbit. To top it off, delicious snacks and cinnamon rolls were provided to share.
Some of us couldn't stay indoors all week. With the new inches of snow, Rachel, Tom and Tamar found time to fit some skiing in this week. Then on Thursday, Rachel left to visit family and friends on the west coast.
Tamar's new yoga classes seem to be going strong. Tamar has decided to try her hand at teaching yoga and is offering classes two times a week. Classes have been well attended and enjoyed.
Thursday night, Nathan hosted a "sharing circle". The discussion of the sharing circle was centered around what each of us has to offer in order to continue to build Dancing Rabbit. We also spent time talking about how to best support each other in that process. It was an inspiring evening.
