Welcome to the new weekly column about the goings on at Dancing
Rabbit, an ecologically focused community of people near Rutledge.
We've been very busy, as its become summer. We have many folks come
as interns for a few months. This week Alexis from the University of
Michigan arrived to work on land management. Last week Shawn and
Sara, students of College of the Atlantic in Maine, showed up to be
garden and general interns. They join the interns already here:
Stephanie from Truman State doing construction, Sunshine from
University of Michigan doing gardening and Christina from State
University of New York doing construction.
In other news, members Rachel and Tony celebrated on the17th their
decision to spend their life together. The rehearsal dinner was
catered by Eleanor Zimmerman at Zimmerman's Cafe and featured
delicious mulberry and black raspberry pies. Their guests stayed
around for a day to help around the farm, including cleaning up from
the party, plastering our timber-framed strawbale cabin and mulching
the potatoes.
Member Alline and visitor Dan were sorely missed, but they were
attending the Midwest Renewable Energy Fair in Madison, WI. Alline
was there selling books as part of her business, Community Bookshelf.
We welcome folks to come by for a tour, but please call first at 883-5511.
