Rachel here, reporting on an especially exciting week at Dancing Rabbit. We had a successful Open House with over 150 people attending and perfect weather. It was fun to get to see old friends and meet new ones. It warms my heart to see that many of our neighbors were interested enough in what we are doing to spend an hour or two touring around the place, especially those that have been here before.

We have been doing the Open House these past 6 years as part of our celebration of the anniversary of buying land. We moved to Scotland County 10 years ago and bought our land 9 years ago. For those of us who have been here all or most of those years, I think the Open House is a reminder of how rooted we have become here.

Speaking of rooted and old-timers, Kurt and Alline came back this week to stay. They first arrived here in '99, but have the spent the majority of the last few years in California taking care of family matters. We are so glad to have them, and their golden retriever Baloo, back home.

Days have been filled with hectic preparations for the change of season, but the evenings are beginning to feel more like winter. We had a game night with the visitors and our usual sewing night, too. And the video projector has been getting regular use as well.

Saturday night, after a long day greeting neighbors at our Open House, a bunch of folks went up to attend the concert in the square in Memphis and socialize some more. I heard it was a good time.

Also, the stove in the Sunflower kitchen has been on the fritz and they are looking for a propane 4 or 6 burner stove with oven. Call Nathan at 883-5585 if you have one you no longer need.
