Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage

This has been a fun, eventful week here at Dancing Rabbit: our latest group of visitors arrived last Monday, and weıve all had a nice time showing them around and seeing them plug into the community. We say goodbye to them today, and hope that theyıll keep in touch.

Tuesday saw us over at Sandhill for our weekly potluck. Chad hosted a grafting workshop before dinner, and after we ate the evening was rounded out by a drum circle (a few of us were also introduced to Sandhillıs pigs, who were predictably cute and pig-like).

Two of our members celebrated birthdays over the past week, and the community marked the occasion with a double party on Wednesday. The party included mud painting and finished off with acting games in the Common House (where we all learned just how hard it was to mime the word ³attached²).

These days, many of us have been keeping busy with food processing: tomatoes have been the biggest presence in the kitchen so far, but weıve also had our hands full with onions, green beans and corn. Itıs certainly reassuring to know that, even in the depths of winter, we shall not want for ketchup.

The construction projects around the village are also chugging along, although the recent damp weather managed to slow things down somewhat. The Skyhouse floor is still in the process of drying, and progress on other undertakings has been similarly hampered. Weıre all hoping that this week will give us a lot of sun Š though maybe without those 100F afternoons of a couple weeks ago.
