By Molly Hatfield:
The week has been a busy on for the members of Dancing Rabbit: the
scheduling portion of our Week in Preview meeting was unusually full of
events, work parties, and committee meetings, and juggling all the
happenings proved a task in an of itself.
We said goodbye to our visitors at the beginning of the week (many expressed
the desire to come back, though, so it¹s likely that we¹ll be seeing more of
them at some point in the future), and their absence is felt in the
decreased amount of bustle around the village. We carry on, however, with
plenty of entertainment from within the community: on Monday evening Rowan
regaled us with stories about his recent adventures in Turkey, and the next
day saw a party of Rabbits take a bike ride to visit a nearby memorial
statue. The 6AM departure time caused some good-natured grumbling, but fun
was nevertheless had by all.
On Wednesday afternoon there was an envelope-stuffing party in the Common
House (complete with snacks and music) in preparation for the mailing of our
Annual Appeal, and that evening we celebrated the Land Day of nearby
community Red Earth Farms with a party that included a tour of new
construction, refreshments, dancing, and an overall good time.
The necessity of avoiding the heat of the afternoon has caused a general
shift of activity toward the earlier hours of the day not only are people
setting their alarms in order to do gardening and construction work in the
AM, but Ultimate games are now scheduled for as early as 7 in the morning.
Ultimate has the power to inspire all but our latest risers out of bed, and
even the earliest games are generally well-attended.
