Rachel here, reporting on a beautiful week at Dancing Rabbit. The strawberries have started to ripen and Ironweed has been producing the most delicious salads. Everything seems to be growing so fast and I have seen a lot of mowing going on. Ted mowed the Ultimate Frisbee field just in time for a game.
We've had a lot of comings and goings. Amy and Juan returned from their Florida visit to Amy's grandfather and Thomas returned from Chicago where he attended a friend's wedding. Cherith was here again with her two kids, Sage and Olivia. Cherith is doing her research for her PhD in Architectural Studies at Mizzou here. It's fun to see all the kids running around in a pack. Our neighbor series this week hosted Judi and Joe Misale, from Kirksville, and two of their out-of-town friends Jim and Lorriane.
Tamar's guest Mark was here for the week. He plays guitar and there seemed to be guitar, banjo and/or lute-harp music nearly every evening. He is also experienced with natural building and taught a workshop on a version of wattle and daub that uses clay and straw.
Sadly, we had to say goodbye, or at least see you later, to Andrew. Andrew has decided he wanted to go back to Kansas City for awhile. We hope he'll decide to come back soon!
We have three weddings planned for this summer and the preparations are building momentum. Amy and I spent Saturday afternoon in Zimmerman's buying supplies for her wedding quilt. We're going to send squares to people important to Amy and Juan for them to decorate and then we're going to piece them into a quilt. Wish us luck, because we plan to finish it by the wedding in September!
It was our friend Judy's birthday on Wednesday, so when she came over for sewing night on Thursday we had a little party planned. The folks who gathered collaborated to make her a set of potholders. They shared a color scheme but each was in a different style (crochet, knit, quilt). We had cupcakes and lots of folks stopped by to wish her a happy birthday.
Ironweed is gardening like mad and they are still looking for spoiled hay or straw to use for mulch. They are also looking for gallon glass jars. Give us a call if you have some of either to get rid of.
