Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage

Juan here, bringing you another week of happenings here at Dancing Rabbit.

The weather can't seem to make up its mind whether it wants to turn into Spring or stay Winter. The temperature pushed its way almost into the 70s in mid-week, before plummeting back into the low 30s. Many rabbits took advantage of the warmth in various ways, from swimming in the pond to that staple of Dancing Rabbit sports - Ultimate Frisbee.

With the end of February, many of us have now started looking ahead to our spring gardens. Early indoor plantings will be starting soon, and I fully expect some houses will look like arboretums before long. This year is my first time being a part of food-growing on any scale, and I'm quite excited to follow our progress.

Many of our various committees have been working really hard, trying to knock out as much work as possible before our visitor season starts up in April. Our vehicle cooperative is even looking for a way to finance upgrading our bio-diesel manufacturing system so we can make all of our own fuel here at DR rather than buying some of it. If you're willing to donate to such a cause, please e-mail or call us and let us know.

I wouldn't want you to think it's been all business around here; many social events went on this week as well. However, the highlight of my week was definitely Tuesday night after our potluck dinner, when we had a Dancing-Rabbit-Sandhill Open-Mic Night. I had a blast watching the acts various Rabbits and Sandhillers had put together, from improvised comedy to song-and-dance numbers.

Tuesday night also was the scene of our farewell potluck for Stefanie and Arjen, two former Rabbits who'd been visiting Sandhill. Come back to the area and visit soon!
