Juan here, hoping you're all enjoying the long weekend as I bring you the latest from Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage.
What a week we've had. With unusually warm and sunny weather, our power levels are finally back in the green. People's energy levels also seem to be rising. The good weather meant many of us were seen out on the Ultimate field. Some were even playing for the first time. With all of this sun it's easy to forget that it's January; I have a hard time believing that snow is just a cold-front away.
This week has also been the week for returning Rabbits. Penn, Laura, and Tamar are all back from their respective holiday travels. With so many of us back home, more social events are starting to happen again.
A lot of meetings are also happening. As our yearly retreat approaches, many committees are meeting to hash out the last few details of the proposals they will be bringing up for consideration. I've been procrastinating a bit, so now I'm going to have to get cracking on my own work for the retreat.
We've also held several workshops for our residents over the past week. Everything from minutes-taking to facilitation to the history of Dancing Rabbit was touched on. I was glad to start developing some skills that will come in handy at the retreat and beyond.
Speaking of meetings, at our Sunday business meeting, we welcomed our latest member. Welcome, Jennifer Russo! Truth be told, I'm not sure I'll notice any difference; Jenn has already become a part of our system.
For most of the week, Skyhouse has also been hosting some visitors from other communities; the biannual Assembly of The Federation of Egalitarian Communities is being co-hosted by Sandhill and Skyhouse. Delegates from Twin Oaks, Acorn, Emma Goldman Finishing School, and East Wind have joined Sandhill's and Skyhouse's for several days of meetings and work. Our friends from other communities have been seen on the Ultimate field and helping with firewood, among other places.
