Happy 30th Birthday Sandhill! Their annual May Day anniversary celebration was extra special this year because it marked 30 years since they moved to Scotland county. There was the usual maypole dance and music jamming sessions. Jeffrey led a group to sing a madrigal in 5-part harmony. And Jacque led a big group to do cheerleading stunts, which we mostly pulled off. Laird wrote 70 tough trivia questions about the history of Sandhill Farm. Ceilee and Josepha (two kids who grew up there) won the prize of a BIG bag of shitake mushrooms.

Back at home, construction projects have been making progress. Ironweed, a eating and gardening co-op, dug the foundation for their new kitchen. Okay, they didn't dig it, but Horst Plumbing dug it as they requested. Dan poured concrete into the hole the Horsts dug last week. Skyhouse rented a sander to sand the floor of the kitchen they are putting in. Like good neighbors, they let Sara and Ted borrow it to do the floor of their house, too.

It's getting warm again so we put the solar showers back up. Despite the heat, Bob and Laura biked to the Dog and Gun sale, with a trailer on the back of the bike! Lots of folks went to the sale, picking up odds and ends. Mostly barrels, it seems, for catching rain to water the garden.

We've been having great fun with visitor, Amy. Or shall I say "resident Amy"? She was accepted to return as a resident June 1st. She went home to get her stuff and we can't wait to see her smiling face back here. In fact, she pulled off quite a job when she was here. Alyson was in charge of a huge fundraising mailing for the Fellowship for Intentional Community, a non-profit that is based at Sandhill. Her grandfather had a stroke and she headed off suddenly to Pennsylvannia to see him. (We hope he's improving!) Amy stepped up to the challenge and go the mailing stickered, stuffed and sealed.

It was a pleasure to meet Bob's son Nathan this week. He is a preacher and had some gigs in Kansas. We were so glad he drove the extra miles to come see Bob and Dancing Rabbit, so we could finally meet him!
