Hi everyone.
This is Alline filling in for Rachel again. She's in the final frenzied weeks of the school year, and can be seen dashing around Dancing Rabbit mumbling to herself about bird species and migration patterns.
This week we said "see you later" (but never good-bye!) to Gare, who is moving back to Ohio to be closer to his family. We'll miss his hilarious under-the-radar comments and all his diligent work with DR visitors, and hope that he and Erin come back and visit soon.
Everything is coming up roses, er, vegetables this week. Bee-yoo-tee-ful things are happening in the gardens. Lots of fresh spinach and other greens, and lots of little sprouts (future potatoes and other delights) are poking their little heads out.
Bluestem Food Co-op is digging the foundation for their building, and it's coming along swimmingly (especially after all that rain...).
Kurt and I arrived back from our Sierra Club training meeting in California. We do a lot of volunteer work for the Sierra Club, mostly leading trips. We also got to visit with my parents, which was fun. Tom C. and Susan B. came to pick us up at the train station in Quincy, and the ride home was better than anything at Disney world. We were surrounded by an amazing lightening show almost all the way home. The torrential rain held off until we reached 'K', but whoo-eee did it pour! Tom was practically driving by braille, and did a fabulous job.
All of us non-Missouri natives continue to be astounded and delighted by the zillions of birds that choose to live near by. The robins are nesting in trees right next to our houses, the wood peckers and gold finches dine at our feeders, and the orioles, cardinals, meadowlarks and blackbirds provide a soundtrack to our lives that is unbeatable.
Steph continues to train for her cross-country bike ride, always with the famous Steph smile. Cecil and Jeffrey were in a bridge tournament in Kirksville on Saturday and Sunday and did pretty well. Best of all, they had fun.
Speaking of fun, this Saturday is Dancing Rabbit tour day. If you're interested in coming on our 1:00 p.m.
tour, please call first at 883-5511 to let us know you're coming.
