by Rachel Katz In one week we went from playing soccer without our jackets to cross
country skiing in full gear. That snow sure has been fun! Ironically, I
left Ontario, Canada when it was warm and snowless, and I came home to a
chilly and white Missouri. I came back via Urbana, IL with my friend Bob,
who I've known since high school.
And I came home to such changes! Marlin, of Sparky's Electronics, and
Cecil have been busy installing the electrical systems in the second floor
of Skyhouse. And a construction crew has been building all the internal
walls up there, too. Kurt got busy beginning the plaster on the inside of
his house. But don't tell Alline. We want her to be surprised when she
gets back from her trip.
Cecil got himself re-elected as president of the board of the Rutledge Fire
Department, for a three year term. Dues stayed at a very reasonable $10.
So consider going to their fundraising supper March 23, where along with
the regular fare, several vegetarian entrees will be served. With his
position on the Board secured, Cecil left for Des Moines, IA, where he
spoke in classes at Drake University.
Chris Feeney and Jeff Behrens paid us a visit. They are working with
Jeffrey and Tony on the Scotland County website and came down to do a
little planning.
Its been nostalgia week here at Dancing Rabbit. Several evenings have been
spent together, looking at pictures of each others childhood, or
reminiscing about all the people who visited us this last year. Also, a
whole bunch of folks went to Memphis to see Lord of the Rings, based on a
favorite childhood book of many here. For some people, it was their second
or third time seeing the movie.
Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage is a nonprofit and a residential community that
demonstrates ecological sustainability in Rutledge, MO.
