Bobolink is a small co-op that was formed
to create a family-style eating scene. Composed primarily of Skyhouse
members, our cooperative enjoys the flexibility of a casual group
along with the diversity of individual cooking styles.
Bobolink provides the basic staple foods to meet most of the members'
food needs. We prioritize organic over conventional food whenever
possible as well as focusing on bioregional in-season foods. We provide
a primarily vegan diet with meals prepared with vegetables and fruit
grown onsite or locally, including food preserved for the winter.
Currently Bobolink purchases vegetables from Ironweed Co-op, other local organic gardeners, and various members whose gardens overflow.
Currently members pay dues of $42 a week, or its equivalent in DR
Hours. Dues can be paid by performing
work for Bobolink such as gardening, food processing, and accounting
or by getting Hours or US dollars from some other work.
In addition to weekly dues, members participate in a cook rotation,
which usually means cooking for the group once a week. This means
that most days dinner and lunch are served by fellow co-opers and
on a member's cook day, co will spend 2-4 hours preparing a meal for
the whole group (often with the help of visitors, interns or other
members).
