Food is central to any human culture and examining our relationship with food is important to an exploration of sustainable living.

It is a big part of our social life here at DR. People can choose to cook and eat independently or join or form a food co-op. Food co-ops allow people to save labor, money, space, and other resources and have the positive social experience of sharing meals. There are weekly potluck dinners that include all at DR and our two neighboring communities, Sandhill Farm and Red Earth Farms. We also have smaller “community dinners” where we each bring our own food and share in each others’ company.

Find out about what we eat, where we get it, and how we prepare it.
